Atheism is a Religion
Thank you for checking out this blog. Below you will find formal argumentation which proves once and for all, that Atheism, is in fact, it's own religion. We will be using all standard definitions, and many different resources as to be fair, while remaining as neutral as possible. God bless.
The REAL definition of Atheism:
Atheism: The view that GOD does not exist.
Atheist: A person that holds to the view that GOD does not exist. A person who maintains that there is no God.

The FAULTY definition of Atheism that many atheists use:
Atheism: The lack of belief in God. The denial or disbelief that any god exists.
Atheist: A person who chooses to deny or disbelieve a god exists. (A person who freely chooses to BELIEVE that NO god exists.)
DONT Allow atheists to lie and use the faulty definition of their position. However, even if they maintain their dishonesty, lets have a look at how we can prove their position is still a RELIGION.
As illustrated above, for anything you disbelieve in, you must also believe that that thing does not exist. There is no possible example that an atheist, or anyone else for that matter, can present, which would provide evidence to the contrary. Why? Because it's a logically impossible task. If you disbelieve something exists, then you believe that that something does not exist. In other words. If you disbelieve (A) exists, then you believe (A) does not exist. This is basic logic and proves once and for all that atheism is in fact a belief system. It's the belief that a God does not exist.
I will take this entire post down if someone can provide me an example to the contrary.
**(Also important to note that belief without absolute certainty always requires some level of faith. Atheists are not absolutely certain a god does not exist, nor can they ever be. The atheistic position is founded on a certain level of faith.)
So lets begin proving that atheism is a Religion:
:Some scientific evidence to kick things off :
NEUROIMAGING SHOWS ATHEISM IS BELIEF NOT LACK OF BELIEF
Atheists often claim that atheism is simply a lack of belief rather than a belief in the non-existence of God. However, neuroimaging studies have shown that atheist thoughts on disbel...ief correlate with the brain region for religious belief rather than the part of the brain associated with recalling non-religious facts. This suggests that atheism is a belief in the non-existence in God rather than a lack of faith or belief in the existence of God.

[[First we will use 3 common definitions for RELIGION which can be found at Dictionary.com and then we will follow that up with 3 formal arguments using each one.]]
(Dictionary.com)
re·li·gion

P2: Atheism is a body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices, stemming from the belief 'there is no god'
T: Atheism is a religion
**(Let us also remember that atheists ALL atheists share the same common BELIEF that God does not exist)**
[[Next we will use a definition of Religion which can be found on Wikipedia]]
(Although a horrible site/source and should never be used, some people for various reasons, think its actually note worthy)
Religion: a collection of belief systems, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to spirituality and, sometimes, to moral values
P1: Religion is a collection of belief systems, cultural systems and worldviews that relate humanity to spirituality and, sometimes, to moral values.
P2: Atheism is a collection of belief systems, cultural systems, and worldviews stemming from the belief 'there is no god', which relate to spirituality and moral values.
T: Atheism is a religion
**(This relates to having NO spirituality, which is a type of spirituality, and also moral values which have to be explained by an evolutionary process since atheists believe a god didn't provide us a with a moral standard.)
[[Next we will look at what Merriam-Webster has to say about all this]]
Religion:
4: a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith
P1: Religion can be referred to as a cause, principle, OR a system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith
P2: Atheism is a system of beliefs, starting with 'God does not exist', that is held to with ardor and faith
T: Atheism is a religion
**(Atheists do not know for certain that a God does not exist (they believe it), such a belief requires tremendous faith. The faith that, among many other things, the universe some how supernaturally created itself from nothing by nothing for no reason, finely tuned itself, and spontaneously created life.)
[[When you type Religion into 'Google' what do they tell you Religion is?]]
Religion:
2. Details of belief as taught or discussed.
P1: Religion is the details of belief as taught or discussed
P2: Details are taught and discussed regarding the atheists belief that there is no god
T: Atheism is a religion
**(I could link you to thousands of sites right now where details about the belief 'there is no god' is being discussed and taught frequently)
[[How about Freedictionary.com...Let's see what they say religion is]]
Religion:
3. A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
P1: Religion is a set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader
P2: Atheism is a set of beliefs, values, and practices, which begin with 'I don't believe a god exists, and are based on the teachings of many spiritual leaders.
T: Atheism is a religion
**(Atheistic teachings ,'the belief that there is no God,' run rampant in our society, media, social networking systems, radio, television, music, etc. There are many many spiritual leaders in the atheistic community who teach the belief, values, and practices that there is no God. Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, Stephen Hawking, and Richard Dawins are just a few. They start with the presupposition/belief, that there is no god, and then teach biology, astronomy, philosophy etc. with God excluded. A person without any spirituality can be a spiritual leader in the negative sense as well. For example if I dont believe in thor, I can spiritually advise you and teach you the way to not believe in him and how certain fields of science, philosophy, and mathematics can be accounted for without him.)
Conclusion:
So we have given 7 different definitions of religion from 5 different sources. From each source we have been able to provide formal argumentation and evidence that atheism is in fact a religion. If even one of these arguments are correct then we have proven our point. The atheist would need to invalidate each and everyone of these arguments for his position (atheism is not a religion) to hold any type of weight. We feel this is an impossible task given the known defintions and the only way one could prove atheism was not a religion would be to either change these defitions or completely ignore them. In closing one can easily see why we arrive at our conclusion that ATHEISM IS IN FACT A RELIGION!!
Side Note:
Atheists frequently complain about religion. They want it out of schools, government, politics, mainstream media and society in general...But what they are really saying is that they want the atheist religion to be ushered in. They want the beliefs in God to be taken out so the beliefs that there is no God can be substituted in. Although they will never admit this (because they are a cowardly dishonest bunch), it's important for Americans to take notice. I like to remind my readers that atheists feel they have the the truth. The truth that they profess is that a god does not exist. Therefore anything which goes against atheism cannot be correct.
This is kind of built on semantics really, it makes sitting down a religion as I believe that I am sitting down.
ReplyDeleteAHHHHH....NOT TRUE!!!...I SEE YOU HAVE MISSED THE POINT COMPLETELY!! TYPICAL ATHEIST FAILURE!!...SITTING DOWN IS NOT A RELIGION BECAUSE IT DOESNT FALL UNDER ANY OF THE DEFINITIONS OF RELIGION....FOR EXAMPLE A BELIEF IS NOT A RELIGION UNTO ITSELF...TO BE A RELIGION, SITTING DOWN WOULD ALSO HAVE TO BE concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe...OR a collection of belief systems, cultural systems and worldviews that relate humanity to spirtuality and, sometimes, to moral values....BUT SITTING DOWN DOES NOT FALL UNDER THESE DEFINITIONS THEREFORE SITTING DOWN IS NOT A RELIGION JUST BECAUSE ITS A BELIEF...ATHEISM ON THE OTHER HAND DOES FALL UNDER ALL THE OF THE DEFINITIONS OF RELIGION :)...YOU LOSE, I WIN...WHAT ELSE IS NEW?
ReplyDeleteIf any atheist says answer the following question
ReplyDelete//Do you believe that I am wearing a yellow shirt? To put the question more technically, do you believe the proposition "Peter is wearing a yellow shirt at this moment" ?//
This is simple...I would not take a position on if PETER is wearing a yellow shirt or not...Because I simply wouldnt know either way....SO I would be an agnostic on the matter...However, atheists DO take a position on wether or not God exist....They BELIEVE, as defined by their stance, that NO God exists!!...That is there position!!...Once they take such a position then I can prove that atheism is in fact a religion....#Defeating atheism fun and easy.
